GSC’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Leanne Andalis, joins the Propeller Club of Northern California’s (PCNC) Board of Directors. Leanne has been involved in the global supply chain industry for over two decades, supporting numerous associations, fundraisers, events, and helping advocate for and advance the maritime industry. Leanne is also on the board of the Pacific Transportation Association and is a member of the California Trucking Association, Harbor Trucking Association and Women in Logistics of Northern California.
The PCNC has supported the advancement of the maritime industry including supporting education for the next generation of maritime professionals. Recently, the PCNC partnered with many maritime stakeholders including GSC, Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA), International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and many others to successfully opposed the attempt to convert Howard Terminal into a condominium and ballpark complex at the Port of Oakland. This effort helped preserve the jobs and economy attached to the Port of Oakland. According to a recent economic report, the Port of Oakland supports more than 98,000 jobs in the region and $174 billion in annual economic activity. The opposition of the Howard Terminal conversion into condominiums saved many jobs and continues to help fuel the local economy.
In its advocacy for maritime advancement, the PCNC consistently facilitates critical industry conversations between all maritime stakeholders to advance the industry, while supporting local communities and efforts. This year the PCNC will contribute to many causes including:
- Attract maritime students, with enrollment rates at maritime academies declining and the need for maritime jobs increasing
- Provide an analysis of the security threats posted by Chinese-built ship to shore cranes
- Aid in supporting the safeguarding of the mariners who operate ships sailing to Northern California ports
